Background on U.S. War Crimes in Iraq
On February 13, 2003, a month before the United States, the United Kingdom and others invaded Iraq, the International Association of Lawyers against Nuclear Arms issued a statement signed by 337 lawyers and jurists from 40 countries that said the use of force against Iraq that was being planned was illegal, violating international law.
In September 2004, former United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan said that the invasion was illegal under the United Nations Charter.
These reports take off from the basic point of the illegality of the invasion to examine specific ways in which the United States has continued to violate international law during the occupation.
In 2004 the United States destroyed Fallujah. It was a war crime and a crime against humanity. This action typifies the U.S. invasion and occupation of Iraq. This video shows what happened, and what continues to happen daily if on a smaller scale.
